Code of Conduct:
Code of Conduct
The code of conduct consists of principles, policies, and rules that each student and student agree to live by in all areas of behaviour while attending YWAM. We ask that you honour this code while you are enrolled in any program with YWAM EA . Breaches of the code of conduct or outlined policies could result in dismissal from the program.
1) Relationship to God - We recognize and embrace that God has called us to live, learn and serve together for this time. In all that we do during this time we seek to do it in a way that brings worship, honor and glory to Him. Behaviour or conduct contrary to God’s biblical principles, the ethos, philosophy, values and ministry of YWAM are considered a breach of the Code of Conduct.
2) Relationship to others –We value and affirm that we are each unique and different. God has made each one and so we embrace and celebrate our diversity while continually striving for Godly relationships with those around us and in our community and school. We always behave in a way that shows care and respect for others' values and dignity. We will endeavour to uphold the reputation of the mission (YWAM) and agree to abide by the laws of the land.
Actions that are deliberate and malicious such as sexual misconduct, smoking, vaping, drug use, physical assault, use of weapons, threatening or intimidating behaviour, harassment or coercion (physical or verbal), vandalism, unlawful behaviour, threats or violence, behaviour that seriously affects the group or team, behaviour that brings YWAM a bad reputation or persistent lying are breaches of the Code of Conduct.
We strictly prohibit smoking, vaping, & illicit drugs. Drinking is not allowed within / on community housing, during any ministry, school outreaches or activities. We prohibit all sexual immorality, (sexting, intimacy with the opposite sex, pornography, etc) within or outside of the base premise, including crossing physical and emotional boundaries. Failure to adhere to guidelines may result in being asked to leave immediately. Unlawful behaviour can lead to immediate exclusion from YWAM staff positions.
3) Relationship to property – We demonstrate care and respect for all YWAM property. We recognize these are provided as a blessing and benefit for the entire community. Likewise, we respect an individual's property. Deliberate, negligent or reckless actions that result in damage to personal or community property, unauthorized use, misuse, abuse or theft of property, unauthorized use or abuse of phones, computers and the internet are a breach of the Code of Conduct.
We are not responsible for any personal items that are lost, misplaced, forgotten, or damaged for any reason. Please take care of your belongings.
4) Relationship to safety – We recognize we have been created with value and purpose and so apply common sense to all situations to do with the safety of self and others. Behaviour that jeopardizes the health and safety of self and others, misuse of prescription drugs or conditions that cause difficulty for the student to fulfill and meet the requirements of the school could be a breach of the Code of Conduct (ex. Serious eating disorders, serious depression, suicidal tendencies, mental illness) .
5) Relationship to the program – We agree to abide by the purpose, outcomes, guidelines and curriculum of our programs. We embrace the scheduled program of our activites and agree to fully participate in all activities pertaining to the program. Examples of behaviour that demonstrates a lack of participation in some or all aspects of the program would be sleeping through class, consistently missing worship or evening activities, continually being late for scheduled events, or failure to attend activities. Participants will automatically not pass the DTS if the minimum full 11 learning weeks and given expectations are not completed.
Please understand that this Code of Conduct is a standard and guideline you are asked to live by during your time with YWAM EA. It is not a rigid set of rules but something each of us upholds because we choose to honor God and others. If you are personally struggling with any of the above areas please be open and honest with YWAM EA staff so that we can help you.
I acknowledge that Youth With A Mission Experience Asia is a youth organization and I will conduct my behavior in the best interest of the youth in their care. I acknowledge that on enrollment I will be accountable to school leaders/ministry leaders to report any incidents that I am aware of regarding the welfare of the youth in the care of Youth With A Mission Experience Asia. Youth With A Mission Experience Asia is obligated by law to report any allegations or incidents concerning the welfare of youth and Youth With A Mission Experience Asia reserves the right to withdraw any members from ministry due to wrongful conduct
I agree to abide by the YWAM Experience Asia Code of Conduct.
Commitment to Honor:
(Required)
Commitment to Honour
We ask that we maintain a culture of honour. This means we speak well of each other, we don’t gossip, we walk the extra mile and we see the best in each other. In Darleen Cunningham’s words: “Let’s be committed to working out misunderstandings and not judging each other. Choose to have an unoffendable heart.”
Part of honouring each other is letting things go and choosing love. As we live in close proximity to each other, please choose to move in the opposite spirit. Let's love each other well and cover each other with grace.
We ask that we all take ownership for where we live. This means we care for our property, we clean up and try to have a clean and comfortable environment. I will pick up after myself and I will be a good steward of where I live so that I honour others and God.
I commit to maintaining a culture of honor and respect for God and others during my time with YWAM.
