DTS Adventure Track – Faith, Fun, and a Bit of Adrenaline
An Update from the Adventure DTS Crew
I wanted to share a full update on how the Adventure Track has been progressing over the past few weeks. Getting out of the classroom, spending time outdoors, and experiencing God in creation has brought a fresh rhythm to our weeks. All of the tracks have been doing great things, but here’s a closer look at what’s been happening specifically in the Adventure Track.
We are thrilled to see how the Adventure DTS is shaping lives through unique experiences.
Most weeks, we head out on Tuesday afternoons for a couple of hours. Sometimes, we shift things to a Saturday so we can go farther, try something that needs more time, or make the most of travel. Having this balance of structure and flexibility has helped the track feel relaxed, fun, and very alive. Time has gone by quickly, and exploring different parts of Malaysia together has become a highlight for many people. There’s always something new to discover, whether it’s a trail, a waterfall, or just another piece of this beautiful country we get to serve in.
Many participants are realizing how the Adventure DTS can push them beyond their limits.
One of our standout outings was our white-water rafting trip a couple of weeks ago. The water levels were high, which made the whole experience fast, energetic, and a bit wild at moments. There was a lot of laughter, some slightly shocked screams, and one raft that tipped unintentionally — everyone had life jackets, so no need to worry. Later in the trip, a guide intentionally flipped another raft, and let’s just say we now understand their sneaky ways. The team handled it all really well, and the whole thing ended up being one of the most memorable days so far. After making it to the end of the river, we stayed for a while to swim and play in the water. One of the great things about Malaysia is that the weather is almost always warm, so even the river water doesn’t feel cold. After swimming, we changed and headed out for lunch at a little hole-in-the-wall restaurant. A couple of cars made a stop at McDonald’s on the way home for ice cream — and yes, the chocolate dip cones are genuinely better here.
The excitement from the white-water rafting trip truly exemplifies the spirit of Adventure DTS.

Last week, we tried something completely different: a sunrise trek. We started while it was still dark, and at first we couldn’t see much at all. There were a few stumbling moments as we made our way up the trail, but eventually we reached the top. Sitting on the rocks, waiting for the light to break over the horizon, created a quiet moment none of us felt the need to rush. Watching the sky brighten and hearing the birds — or maybe bats — move around us was simple but meaningful. Then it was back down the mountain and straight into the classroom. It happened to be Father Heart of God week, which added even more depth to the day as God was doing significant work in many people.
This sunrise trek was an unforgettable part of our Adventure DTS journey.
