What Are DTS Tracks? How to Choose t
he Right One for You
If you’ve been looking into YWAM’s Discipleship Training School (DTS), you’ve probably heard about DTS tracks. But what exactly are they—and how do you know which one fits you best? How important are they? What’s the best dts to do?
We have DTS tracks at YWAM EA. We are in Malaysia (one of the most beautiful, diverse countries in the world!) and the heart of our DTS is to know God and make Him known in a multicultural, gen z environment. Every student joins the main DTS program, but you also choose a track—a small focus area on a Tuesday that helps you grow your gifts and apply what you’re learning in real-life ministry.
What Is a DTS Track?
A DTS track is a practical stream or theme that runs through your Discipleship Training School. We have DTS tracks on a Tuesday afternoon for anywhere from 90 minutes to a couple of hours. Our adventure track sometimes does a longer activity: like white-water rafting or paragliding on a Saturday.
For example, during the lecture phase, all DTS students learn the same foundational topics:
-
Hearing God’s voice
-
The Father heart of God
-
The character and nature of God
-
Inner Healing
-
Relationships and Lordship of Christ
Most of the DTS is done together, but for the tracks we separate into groups. We still have other activities that happen in the evenings (small groups, Bible studies, etc.) but on a Tuesday about 1pm it’s track time. This is not the focus of the entire DTS – it’s just a small, fun part of it.
Popular DTS Tracks
Each YWAM base around the world designs their DTS tracks differently, depending on their local focus and calling. Here at YWAM Experience Asia, we’ve developed tracks that fit the heartbeat of Asia and the nations beyond.
Here are some examples of what DTS tracks can look like:
Media Track
Use your artistic gifts to share the gospel through video, photography, storytelling, and design. Learn how creativity can be a powerful tool in missions—especially across cultures and languages.
Adventure Track
Experience God in creation and discover how teamwork, challenge, and nature can shape your character and leadership. This track often includes hiking, team challenges, and getting outside.
Worship & Living Waters Track
Deepen your relationship with God through worship, prayer, and prophetic ministry. Learn how to lead others into His presence and hear His heart for the nations. Sometimes it’s just a chill time – soaking and being still.
We LOVE what God is doing and it’s a fun place to be
